Who Can Be An Egg Sharer?
Acceptance criteria for the Egg Sharing Programme
You should be aware that not everyone is eligible to enter the Bridge programme and we must first establish that you fulfil the criteria for egg sharing. This is not a complex process – you need to complete the Egg Share Registration form and Consent to Disclose forms and have a blood test for FSH (Follicle Stimulating Hormone), LH (Luteinising Hormone) and E2 (Oestradial).
Once we have this information, we will review your suitability at an egg donation team meeting. We then write to your GP to ask whether there are any contraindications for you to be an egg sharer. This is a requirement of the HFEA and an acceptance criterion.
As a general guideline we can tell you that donors must: -
- Be aged between 18 and 34
- Have undergone the screening tests mentioned below and have a normal FSH level ofno more than 8. (if the level has ever been above 8 or fluctuates above 8, you will beexcluded) and normal E2 and LH level
- Have had no more than two previous unsuccessful IVF attempts. We will need to knowthe levels of drugs required on both previous cycles and the number of eggs collected.
- Have a body mass index (BMI) of less than 30 (click here to confirm your BMI)
- Have both ovaries
- Have no personal or family history of inheritable disorders
- Have no personal history of transmissible infection
- Have had no history of previous low ovarian response to ovarian stimulation
- Have received appropriate counselling
- Have given appropriate consent
- If possible, have a referring letter from your General Practitioner
